What is Washington Housing Education ?
Washington Housing Education is a local
non-profit and part of The Heritage Foundation.
Our mission is to
educate the general public about the advantages and pitfalls of dealing in
matters centering around the acquisition of real estate. By utilizing
exceptional industry professionals who are willing to donate their time,
talents and materials, we are able to keep costs minimal or free while
helping Puget Sound residents achieve the "American Dream" of owning real
estate.
Am I going to get stuck getting a
sales pitch?
No! All Washington Housing Education classes maintain a
safe, no-sales-pitch environment for our students. Leave your wallet at home.
There is no soliciting allowed. Occasionally vendors enroll in our classes in an
attempt to solicit or pass out business cards. This is strictly forbidden and if
discovered they will be escorted out.
What do we do about lunch?
We strongly recommend that you bring a sack lunch if
you are attending seminars that last 4 hours or more. Lunch breaks are usually
no longer than 20 to 30 minutes. While some locations do have local restaurants
and fast food places, many do not.
Are you going to sell my personal
information?
No! Please read our privacy policy.
Where are classes held?
Washington Housing Education classes are held in many
different locations including public facilities such as libraries, community
centers, and fire stations. In all cases, room temperatures and comfort levels
vary per location. You may feel that is it is a little too warm or a little too
chilly, so please come prepared.
How Do I Sign Up?
In order to enroll in a Washington Housing Education
seminar or workshop simply select a class you are interested in, enter your zip
code. Our system will search for the nearest classes and display them for you.
Select a class and click on the "enroll now" link. This will take you to an
enrollment form. Fill out the form and submit.
You can also register before ever selecting a class. Do
this by simply clicking on the register button that appears in the upper right
and corner on most of the site pages. Once you've registered you'll be given a
username and password. Use this username and password to and access to the rest
of this site, including the ability to actually enroll in future classes. A
package of information, including driving directions, will be mailed to you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Unfortunately, for some people, when something is FREE,
it has absolutely no value. As a result, there have been some registrants who
have abused the enrollment system by canceling and rescheduling a number of
times. Some registrants simply don't show up. This causes unnecessary
preparation for the instructors and leaves a vacant seat that could've been
occupied by someone else. As a result, Washington Housing Education has
instituted a policy that will not allow for the rescheduling of a class if the
student fails to notify us at least 1 day prior to the class. If you can't make
it, please give our seminar coordinator the courtesy of a phone call or e-mail.
Thank you.
What if a class is rescheduled?
Occasionally there are circumstances that will cause a
seminar to be rescheduled. Illness, weather, power outages and other unexpected
emergencies can occur and cause a seminar to be canceled. When this happens,
Washington Housing Education uses the "contact information" that you
provided when you registered, to notify you of the cancellation. The vast
majority of time we are able to notify all of our enrollees in a timely manner.
However, if you have provided inaccurate information when you registered, you
could find yourself arriving at an empty classroom. Please check your
registration contact information for accuracy. You can always log-in and change
your user information.
How do I know I've been accepted for
a certain class?
You must receive a confirmation notice from us before
attending any workshop or class. It is important that you provide accurate
information when registering. You will receive a conformation and registration
packet in the mail. This will mailed to you the next business day following your
registration. This packet will also contain a map with driving directions.
If time is short, and assuming that seats were available, you will receive a
confirmation via e-mail.
Can I bring a relative or friend?
Yes, providing you have notified the seminar
coordinator in advance.
News Group and Bulletin Board.
Although we appreciate the positive sentiment towards
Washington Housing Education and its free or low prices for the information
provided, we has taken the position that it will not allow this site or its news
group to be a forum for personal attacks, untrue or defamatory statements, name
calling or obscenities. We have temporally disabled our news group and bulletin
board.
Although we agree that most real estate gurus charge an
obscene amount for the information that they offer, our position is that most
provide valid and useful information. We neither encourage nor discourage your
patronization of their services.
Our goal is to provide the public with a resource for
getting the same information either free or at a very low cost. You can assist
us. Our reputation is untarnished. We would like to keep it that way. Help us to
stay true to our mission by providing honest feedback and suggestions. We invite
you to be candid. We can take it! Thank you.
